A 17th-century French walnut commode of two long drawers, the fronts worked in shaped, molded panels around central rocaille escutcheons, dressed with pierced rococo bail handles. Serpentine apron below, short cabriole legs ending in hoof feet, the walnut a deep warm brown with old chatter and colour built up over centuries. A heavy, carved piece with real presence.
