Walnut, with four front panels each inlaid in a geometric lozenge pattern of light and dark woods, fine stringing framing every panel and small inlaid diamonds between them. It sits on a molded plinth over large bun feet. The lift lid has a patch of dark old staining toward one end, and its underside still holds fragments of early paper lining. Long and low, good at the foot of a bed or along a hallway.
