Stripped back to pale oak, the commode shows its pegs and old stains across a plank top cut with canted corners to match the carcase. Two short drawers sit over two long ones, each front fielded inside a heavy moulded frame, with brass bail handles on pierced backplates and the centre escutcheons set into carved roundels. Panelled pilasters with a small scroll at the head run down the corners to a stepped plinth and block feet. One escutcheon has an old crack, and the boards of the top have opened a little with age.
