Two wide planks make the back, dark and polished, with the open grain raised in ripples and an old split following the figure along the lower board. The seat is a deep plank bench between square arm posts, and the rear posts finish in carved scrolls. Underneath, a pair of cupboard doors, each cut with a lozenge, hang on iron strap hinges with fleur-de-lis tips, either side of a centre panel with applied geometric moulding. It suits a long hallway or the end of a kitchen table, with room below for boots and baskets.
