A small lidded box in deep reddish timber, with dovetailed corners, a molded lid and base, and iron handles at each end. A round brass escutcheon holds the key, finished with a braided gold tassel. The interior is plain and unlined, the grain darkening toward the base. For letters, keys, or anything that needs a home on a desk.
