Antique English Oil Painting

Oil on canvas, a stream running down through a rocky clearing toward the viewer, with a single tall tree to the left and a low line of woods behind. The sky does most of the work, warm amber cloud breaking open to a patch of green-blue. It sits in a deep gilt frame with a running foliate pattern and an inner gilt slip, rubbed back to the darker base at the corners and along a few edges. Turn it over and the canvas is held on a wooden stretcher with a centre bar. Dark and atmospheric, best hung where a lamp can catch it.
