Antique French Champagne Basket

A substantial antique French champagne basket, woven in thick, time-softened willow with a beautifully varied tone from warm honey to muted grey. The form is generous and slightly tapering, anchored by a reinforced rim and sturdy looped handles that sit comfortably in the hand. Distinctive bands of tighter weaving and open latticework wrap the body, adding depth and structure, while the lower section carries its original hand-painted “RCO” marking in black over a pale wash. The surface shows gentle irregularities and wear throughout, giving it a relaxed, utilitarian feel—equally suited for logs, linens, or as a sculptural piece on its own.
