Chestnut boards, pale and dry on the front and a deeper brown across the lid, are pegged into heavy corner posts, and a single run of moulding crosses the front and climbs to a point over the iron escutcheon. The lid lifts on long iron strap hinges to a deep interior with a small lidded till at one end. There is old worm in the base moulding, a split along the lid and a dark stain at its right end. It stands on plain block feet and suits the foot of a bed.
