A set of four French ironstone plates in the Royat pattern by Utzschneider & Cie, Sarreguemines, dating to the early 1900s. Their surfaces carry a delicate transfer design of soft blue florals that trail across a warm ivory glaze, a fine example of the Art Nouveau influence in everyday tableware of the time. Stamped ROYAT U&C Sarreguemines on the reverse, these plates were made in terre de fer, or ironstone, giving them both durability and a certain quiet presence. The subtle patina of age—gentle crazing and the kind of wear that only comes with more than a century of life—adds to their character, making them as appealing for use as they are for display.
Dimensions: 9.25 inch diameter
