Two short drawers over four long, in oak bleached to a pale, sandy finish that shows every fleck of the grain. Each drawer carries a pair of pierced brass handles shaped like small baskets, with a keyhole between, and a band of diagonal carving runs beneath the top pair. The front corners are canted, the top has a moulded edge, and the case stands on squat block feet. At 51.5 inches tall it holds far more than a standard chest without crowding a bedroom wall.
