Large Antique Alsatian Salt Glaze Crock

Pale grey salt glaze with a dimpled orange peel surface covers the straight sided cylinder, with a thick rolled rim and two small ear handles. Each side carries a spray in light cobalt, two fan flowers on a curling stem with a leaf and a row of dots, set between double blue bands, and a 30 is impressed beside one handle. Firing cracks show where the handles join, with a line running down below one of them and tan flashing across one face. At this size it takes umbrellas or an armful of branches.
