Set of 9 18th/19th c. English Oak Wainscot Chairs

Nine oak wainscot chairs, one carver with arms and eight side chairs, each with a carved crest rail above a solid paneled back and a boarded seat. The oak has gone deep brown, nearly black at the edges from old wax, with the surface worn smooth where hands and backs have rested for a couple of centuries. No two are identical, which is the pleasure of a set assembled over time. A rare thing to find in this number.

• Carver chair: 26.25 inches wide by 17.75 inches deep overall, 17 inches deep in seat, 39.5 inches tall overall, 18 inches tall at seat
• Armless chairs: 18.75 inches wide by 16.5 inches deep by 37.25 inches tall overall, 17.75 inches at seat

Our items are one-of-a-kind and can have wear consistent with age, including nicks, cracks, separation, doors and drawers that stick or don't close completely and patina which only adds to the character.
